All FRCR 2A teaching sessions are delivered online via Google Meet.

These sessions are coordinated and accessed through the NWSOR Google Classroom and take place weekly in the lead‑up to each exam sitting.

All who have successfully passed First FRCR exams will be get access to FRCR 2A question bank, thanks to Radiology Masters . Please contact Dr Ben Brown - FRCR 2A Resident Doctor Lead for further information. 

NWSOR FRCR 2A teaching sessions continue to be administered by FRCR 2A Resident Doctor Lead.

Study leave - 5 days private study for FRCR 2A preparation which can be applied via study leave process. 

Set to begin from September 2026, which promises to offer invaluable support in preparation for the 2B exam. The course will be held a month prior to the exam.  Further information of the course is as follows:

• Delivered by Radiology Masters 

• Includes unlimited access to the following for ALL trainees who are sitting FRCR 2B exams 

  • Long Cases /Short Cases /Rapid reporting sets

  • Essential Chest Course (can access from ST1) 

• Power Course - One sitting only

• Study leave - Optional half day study in preparation of FRCR 2B teaching sessions 3 months prior to FRCR 2B exam for first attempt only .This should be self-organised with prior permission from involved educators including TSTL and CS . Mandatory written documentation of agreed timeline with TSTL , uploaded on e-portfolio with self-reflection for ARCP. 

• Additional attempts at FRCR 2B - will be reviewed based on NWSOR Exam Support pathway.

• Please note any additional utilisation of Power course to be funded by the trainee from their individual study budget . 

This course is a mandatory component of the training programme.

To ensure everyone has fair access, the School of Radiology team will reach out each quarter to identify those planning to sit the 2B exam at the next session. Those who respond will be provided with a unique code to log in to the course. Please note that these logins are limited and must not be shared with fellow resident doctors, as this could prevent others from benefitting from the course.

For transparency, the cost of participation will be top sliced from your study leave budget at £200, which is considerably lower than comparable courses available nationally.

TIMELINE OF FRCR 2B

JANUARY, APRIL, JUNE, SEPTEMBER

NHSE-NW to contact all eligible Resident Doctors to confirm if they are attempting the next FRCR 2B examination.  Resident Doctors must confirm by completing the relevant Google form. 

The course facilitators and Study Leave Training Programme Director (TPD) have access to this form and those who respond will be provided with a unique code to log in to the course.   The Study Leave TPD will arrange for top slice payment from such list.

Please note that these logins are limited and must not be shared with fellow resident doctors, as this could prevent others from benefitting from the course.
