Training Placements

Rotations & Placements

The NW School of Radiology has 3 main training sectors:

At recruitment selection, trainees will rank preference of sector. Once in an allocated sector there is little opportunity to swap sectors, so you will need to be prepared to commute if you live outside your allocated sector.

Rotations can be based at any training site within an allocated sector, there may be educational reasons to be based in another sector and will be discussed if required, this includes sub specialty training centres eg interventional, neuro and paediatrics where there may be limited opportunities within a certain sector.

Please also be prepared to commute to Academy Training Centres across the NW region in ST2-ST6 as teaching and education will be held at various sites.

If you are interested in training in the North West, please ensure that you review the entry requirements for the Clinical Radiology or Nuclear Medicine programmes on the Royal College of Radiologists webpages: https://www.rcr.ac.uk/clinical-radiology/careers-and-recruitment/specialty-recruitment

National Recruitment processes and application timeframes can be found here: https://medical.hee.nhs.uk/medical-training-recruitment/medical-specialty-training

There is one intake per training year commencing in August at ST1
